Bradley Coates, Esq. returned to the program. His book “Divorce with Decency” is now in its 4th Edition. This book is an all-encompassing survey of love, marriage, and romantic relationships. Brad is unlike the vast majority of divorce attorneys because he lectures internationally on Marriage Preservation Pointers, also the subject of this program.  What are the ingredients for a healthy and lasting relationship? Bradley Coates and Dr. Diana discussed the basic nature of conflict, romantic illusions, different gender styles, mental and sexual differences.  They expanded on the “Surprising (And Scientifically Proven) Things That Lead to a Lasting Marriage” from the Huffington Post. Please listen – there is lots of useful information for anyone who is in a partnership – or wants one.

Dr. Dudley Danoff, author of “Penis Power” — Dec. 16, 2014

PenisPower

Dr. Dudley Danoff, world renowned urologist, founder and President of Cedars-Sinai Tower Urology in Los Angeles, returned to the program to further unzip the secrets of male sexual health. His book PENIS POWER – The Ultimate Guide to Male Sexual Health – www.PenisPowerBook.com – is empowering for men and their partners!  For this program, Dr. Danoff and Dr. Diana focused on the Low-T (testosterone) debate and E.D. (erectile dysfunction). We hear a lot about low-T. Is Big Pharma selling a real cure or one that is not needed? A skeptical and medical discussion followed: sales of testosterone therapies jumped from $324 million to $2 billion is 2012. Is there a natural T. decline with aging? What about health issues? (The bigger the belly, the lower the T. levels, for example.) E.D. affects roughly half of Americans over 60. There are very real roles for nitric oxide and exercise. How can a female partner help with performance and confidence issues? Dr. Danoff offered information about the medical and emotional causes of impotence, offering practical solutions. Please listen to the archived program. You won’t want to miss this show!

Carl Frankel, author of “Love and the More Perfect Union” — Dec. 9, 2014

December 10, 2014 By Diana Wiley

Love and the More Perfect Union (Carl Frankel)

Carl Frankel is a writer, entrepreneur and the managing director of Sheri Winston’s Center for the Intimate Arts. Dr. Diana and Carl discussed one of his books “Love and the More Perfect Union.” In this book Carl creatively combines established principles of relationship happiness with original and useful maps and models. His acronym for intimate relationships is A-C-E for autonomy, connection and equity. Do you like yourself when you’re not around your partner? If you can bring your whole, imperfect human self to the relationship and feel safe, seen, heard and known, those are good indications you’re in the right place. What is the Continuum of Connection and how does it affect relationships?  What are some of the main sources of relationship unhappiness?  These questions and more were discussed. Carl (www.CarlFrankel.com) will return to this program January 27, 2015. Please tune-in for more fascinating talk!

Dr. Richard Wagner, author of “The Gospel of Kink” — Nov. 25, 2014

November 26, 2014 By Diana Wiley

Gospel of Kink-small-cover-285x350

It’s that time of year again, when Americans baste turkeys, bake pies, and give thanks. Do you have an attitude of gratitude? My guest Dr. Richard Wagner certainly does! A former Catholic Priest and current sexologist, his views are spiritual, wise, and extremely insightful. Last year on November 5th and the 12th, we discussed his book The Amateur’s Guide to Death and Dying: Enhancing the End of Life. (Please visit the archives to hear these shows.) His more recent book is The Gospel of Kink. First we discussed the rituals for love – where a heart-felt “thank you” can be more meaningful than “I love you.” It very likely this will raise the other up – and get us out of our egos at the same time. Many relationships die from emotional undernourishment. People forget to say what they value and appreciate about their partner. Speak up! It creates good feelings, which draws us closer. The second part of the program explored BDSM aftercare. It turns out that BDSM folks prioritize sex, make time for it, accept their sexuality, and communicate openly with their partner. Dr. Wagner discusses power play where partners talk clearly about sexual parameters, limits, safe words and the like. The aftercare piece is when the partners can embrace and say thank you…It can be the transition from the personality in the scene to the day-to-day personality. There is so much more!  Please listen. Happy Thanksgiving!

Bradley Coates, Esq., author of “Divorce With Decency” — Nov. 18, 2014

November 19, 2014 By Diana Wiley

Bradley Coates, Esq., (www.CoatesandFrey.com) returned to the program. He is the author of “DIVORCE with DECENCY” – 4th Edition. The focus of the show was a question in this book: IS MARRIAGE DEAD?  Every day in June about 13,000 American couples say “I do,” committing to a lifelong relationship of joy and love; except, of course, it doesn’t work out that way for most people. The majority of marriages fail, either ending in divorce and separation or devolving into bitterness and dysfunction. Brad Coates, heading up Hawaii’s largest divorce law firm, knows that the latter is true.  The stats, enumerated in his book are alarming: the 2010 Census revealed that married couples represented only 48% of all households. Furthermore, two-thirds of women file for divorce, dissatisfied with having to assume too much of the relationship responsibility – and more. Dr. Diana and Brad also discussed the Internet’s connectedness craze – as well as porn. Relationships are truly affected by these modern trends. On January 20, 2015 Brad will return to the show so that we can discuss the ingredients of a healthy and lasting relationship.
